Meet The Counsellor
GENERAL COUNSELLOR majoring in LOSS & GRIEF, ABUSE, RELATIONSHIP and CONFLICT RESOLUTION COUNSELLING.
Principal Counsellor Mel
Melissa is compassionate, empathetic and warm. She will “edify” you, meaning to hold up, promote growth with her wisdom, grace and virtue. She will come alongside you as a support in times of significant loss and grief. Melissa will encourage and listen to you, which she believes is one of the greatest gifts and essential skills that people require in a crisis. She will believe in you as an individual with the ability and potential to follow through on the strategies and goals you create throughout the counselling process, as your personal worth is far greater than you would ever believe.
Melissa can help you in generalised areas of counselling, such as anxiety, depression, stress, self-worth/esteem issues, abandonment, life transitions (peri-menopause, life stages, etc.), grief & loss, pet bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse. To book, click on the “Book consultation here” tab, top right, or go to Services.
About Counsellor Mel
Melissa has over 30 years’ experience in the health and mental health fields, holding a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) and a Diploma of Counselling endorsed by the Australian Counselling Association. She has a particular interest in grief and loss, not just associated with bereavement, but also the loss of self. That may be through medical illness, a diagnosis, or a change in life circumstances. She believes that therapy is a gift, a chance for your story to be heard empathetically, understood and supported in a safe, professional, caring, non-judgmental and confidential environment. She finds it a great privilege and honour to help people navigate, explore, and transition through life’s most difficult seasons, and, for what matters most, utilise their strengths and strategies to achieve better outcomes.
Melissa is a fifty-year-old woman happily married for the last 26 years to a wonderful man. Mother to two adult married children and is a fur Mum.
She loves to spend her free time walking, reading, researching, and if you cannot find her, she will be in the garden or cooking up a storm.
